About the Role
We are currently looking for an electronic data interchange (EDI) interface engineer to join our team. We are looking for a high-impact individual who will be able to rapidly absorb our interfacing processes and procedures. We plan for an introductory ramp-up/training period but will be expecting the specialist to work with minimal guidance or supervision.
The work is completely remote.
Main responsibilities will include
- Create and maintain interfaces between LigoLab and its clients using HL7, XML, ASTM, and X12 protocols in the Mirth Connect interface engine
- Work directly with clients for new interface builds and existing interface modifications
- Assist in writing, testing, and maintaining JavaScript transformation scripts to customize processes that exchange data between systems
- Assist the help-desk/support team in application and interfacing support
- Work with the development team for interface optimization
- 1-week rotations of after-hours support for emergency issues. ($50 bonus per issue)
- Availability is required during normal business hours (9am-5pm PT).
Once fully onboarded we are expecting all members to be able to address 20-25 support tickets and 10 new interface tickets/projects per month on average. This number could increase with the volume of tickets increasing.

Requirements
- U.S. work authorization for permanent employment (W-2)
- This will be your only full-time job
- Experience with EDI development process and support (analytical skills, ability to understand interfacing requirements)
- Basic programming knowledge (variables, functions, etc.), troubleshooting and debugging skills,
- JavaScript and Mirth Connect experience
- Networking fundamentals (sftp, http, vpn, etc.)
- Professionalism and strong ability to communicate with clients (fluent in English)
- Ability to work on multiple projects and self-prioritize
- Most importantly--a good attitude and desire to learn the domain and succeed
Not required, only preferred
- OOP fundamentals / JavaScript experience
- Experience with XML/HL7/ASTM file formats
- Experience with laboratory information systems, and/or experience in a medical laboratory environment.
